Systems and methods for facial recognition

Different colored rectangles are used to identify and categorize each of several faces in a single photograph. For example, red rectangles highlight faces which are unidentified and green rectangles highlight faces which have been identified. Alternatively identification and characterization are indicated via a mouseover block of text. The invention allows for user input to identify selected faces and to tag selected faces as not interested, e.g. color the rectangle grey. The invention has utility in many facial recognition applications. For example, in a security application green rectangles can be used to indicate faces belonging to authorized personnel and blue rectangles can be used to indicate faces belonging to known criminals while red rectangles indicate unidentified faces. In a casino application, green rectangles can be used to indicate faces belonging to valued customers while blue rectangles can be used to indicate faces of known card counters.

Facial recognition with biometric pre-filters

Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method for facial recognition processing using biometric pre-filters. The computer determines a first eye-to-eye distance of a first detected face of a first image, and wherein the eye-to-eye distance is a biometric measurement. The computer receives a selection of a demographic characteristic. The computer determines a search range for the first eye-to-eye distance based, at least in part, on the selection of the demographic characteristic, and the first eye-to-eye distance. The computer identifies a second image from a plurality of images, wherein the second image includes a second eye-to-eye distance that is included in the determined search range for the first eye-to-eye distance. The computer applies a facial recognition algorithm to the second image to determine at least one potential identity that is associated with the first detected face.

New information and amusement is provided by a method for determining compatibility and resemblance between people, by using biometric face recognition to compare facial features. A computer server operates as either connected via the Internet or as a non-networked, standalone kiosk. Facial image data is received from a user and compared to other stored images to compare similarities. Processing is performed on the computer server by the face recognition module and application software. A determination is then made as to compatibility and/or the resemblance level between facial images. Compatibility and resemblance are each directly correlated to how closely the user's facial features match those of other stored images. The computer server input/output module then outputs the results to the user as an analysis containing match scores.

The driver carries a RFID personal smart card that stores personal information of the driver and a face template of the driver. The vehicle carries a RFID vehicle tag that stores information regarding the vehicle. The facial detection and verification system scans and reads a facial image for the driver. All the data and facial images detected by the readers are sent to a local computer at the control gate for further processing (final face verification). The local computer at the control gate decodes and retrieves the face template from the data read from the RFID personal smart card.
